//abstract Since only a few years, fast spreading, participatory platforms on the web have evoked a major shift into the realm of social media. Social media are often discussed today in relation to Web 2.0, which refers to a number of technical, economic, and social developments.The new social media platforms reveal the particular features of individual subcultures. Based on these recent developments, our application proposes to develop a strategic manual for social practices-oriented design in public space. New forms of public performance and social interplay are likely to appear, if we envision them to be fed by media-rich content created in an asynchronous, remote virtual manner in the everyday of public life. Customization and participation will be taken as key principles to initiate and enhance new self-organizing forms of public life. //abstract space&designstategies_research (Kunstuniversität Linz/space&designstrategies) is aimed at supporting the interdisciplinary work of students by facilitating scientific exchange with external researchers, in order to provide a broader framework for discussion, the evaluation of student work, and intensified research. Each year we renew our main focus oscillating between architecture and art - raising issues either based on specific design methodologies or on experiential space phenomena. General topics are being set to challenge and reflect while undertaking specific interventions at a 1:1 scale.

//abstract Es ist offensichtlich: der Einfluss des Computers auf die Architektur nimmt dramatisch zu. Die Herstellungskosten verschieben sich zunehmend in Richtung Elektronik – beim Kraftfahrzeug erreichen sie bald die 40%-Marke (von ehemals 2 bis 3 %). Beim Gebäude muss man mit ähnlichen Werten rechnen. Der Beitrag soll die dahinter liegende Philosophie erläutern, welche Netze heute State-of-the-Art sind und was langfristig bzgl. der Automation auf uns zukommen wird.
